How To Tell Your Brand Story

Your brand story should help communicate your value proposition, why you are unique and why a prospective client should use you. Tell your story in a such a way that customers will relate to you and trust you.

Every story has a beginning, middle and end. The elements of your brand story should have a problem, a solution and success. Explain the problem your target market has, describe how you solved it and show the outcome and results achieved.

There are five essential elements of a powerful brand story.

1. It’s meaningful

Every piece of content should provide value for the person that will consume it. Ask yourself: Why are you telling this story? What makes it unique? What value does this provide? What is they key learning?

2. It’s personal

Be relevant, authentic and interesting. How does your brand improve a customer’s life? Why should they take the time to invest in this story? Remember: If there is no place for someone in your story, there’s no reason for them to pay attention to it.

3. It’s emotional

Evoke emotion, lead with a challenge or problem. This will create intrigue. Storytelling like personal experiences, statistics, or questions can also be effective, as is ending with a great result.

4. It’s simple

Focus on one person or one problem at a time so you don’t confuse your audience.

5. It’s real

This means being honest, and transparent. It also means being consistent. Be specific, measurable and exact about the features of your business which are of potential value to your customers.
