How to Develop a Content Marketing Strategy

Content marketing is providing relevant and engaging content that provides value to a target audience with the goal of growing a business. This type of marketing is focused on solving problems and this builds trust between you and your clients.

Start by asking yourself: How can I add value? What is the end goal? Also ask your clients what they want to know more about.

These are the different types of content through which you can get your message out:

  • Blog post

  • How to guide

  • Testimonials

  • Client review

  • Podcast

  • Ebook

  • Video

  • Infographic

  • Case studies

  • Frequently asked questions

  • Create content with authority figures or related industries

  • Check list

These are some of the most frequently used platforms where you can publish and promote your content:

  • WordPress

  • LinkedIn

  • YouTube

  • Facebook

  • Instagram

  • Twitter

  • Mailchimp or Funnel

Spread out content over the course of 12 months. Start with 12 written articles -- blog posts, industry news, updates; 12 interviews or client testimonials, ideally in video format; 12 short videos providing information; 12 FAQ’s (Frequently Asked Questions). This will already give you a total of 48 pieces of content.

Define your topic area -- what unique knowledge base relating to your industry can you offer to an audience? Find and use keywords that hit your target area and target audience.
